PSEG Smart Meter Information

Please be advised that residential properties will be receiving letters from PSE&G in the near future informing them that PSE&G is going to begin deployment of smart electric meters in the City of Rahway.  These meters will, among other things:

• provide you with more information about your electric use

• allow automatic, near real-time meter reading that will eliminate almost all estimated electric bills

• enable near real-time power outage detection and make storm restoration work more efficient

 

PSE&G has hired Contact Callers Inc (CCI) to perform the meter installations.  Additional information regarding smart meters and their benefits is available at pseg.com/smartmeters  as well as in the links below.

Utility or Rail Projects

Amtrak Closure of W. Hazelwood Avenue - Tentative re-opening scheduled for April/May 
On or about 10/24/22, W. Hazelwood Avenue will be closed to through traffic for approximately 4 months (February 2023).
Amtrak will begin necessary repairs to the rail bridge over W. Hazelwood Avenue near the intersection with Broad Street.
While work is ongoing at the bridge, W. Hazelwood Avenue will be closed to through traffic at the bridge and the detour route through Rahway will be posted.

Construction activities will be ongoing during the day and the night for the duration of the project, with typical workdays being Monday through Thursday.
Six weekends of work are also proposed between November 2022 and February 2023 to complete critical repairs requiring railroad track outages.
