Heart disease and stroke kill 1 in 3 women, yet it’s 80% preventable. The teachers and staff at Franklin Elementary School in Rahway celebrated National Wear Red Day with Go Red For Women on Friday, Feb. 5, to help save women’s lives.

They joined the nationwide movement and honored women by each donating $2. In exchange for their donation, they were able to wear jeans to work that day, the school nurse took their blood pressure, they received a heart healthy cookbook and even a little treat.

Collectively, the school was able to make a donation of $106 to the American Heart Association.
