Registered Environmental Health Specialist

Part-Time (25 hrs wk)
Community Development Division of Public Health & Housing
$25-$37/hour

The City of Rahway, Department of Community Development Division of Public Health & Housing (multi-jurisdictional) is recruiting a part time (approx. 25 hours week) Registered Environmental Health Specialist with a minimum of one (1) year experience in performing food establishment inspections, public health nuisance complaint investigations, recreational bathing and youth camp inspections.  Lead Inspector/Risk Assessor, Community Noise Enforcement Certification, Body Art Establishment inspections, Septic experience or Inspector of Hotels and Multiple Dwellings License a plus.  Proficient in writing reports and Notice of Violations, possesses organizational and communication skills, understands and able to review establishment plans, and the ability to interact with establishment operators and public along with other duties outlined in and not limited to the Civil Service Commission job description (https://info.csc.state.nj.us/jobspec/03097.htm). Laborer 1 – Seasonal (37.5 hrs. wk.)

$10-14 per hour

The City of Rahway, Department of Public Works is recruiting Seasonal Laborer 1 personnel (April – December) with potential for F/T employment based on performance and availability of positions.  Hours are Mon -Fri, 6 am – 1:30 pm or 7 am – 2:30 pm.  Duties include a variety of routine, repetitive, noncomplex labor tasks which involve cleaning and maintenance of public properties, cutting grass, snow removal, recycling and solid waste collection and other duties outlined in and not limited to the Civil Service Commission title Laborer 1 (https://info.csc.state.nj.us/jobspec/02248.htm).  Job qualifications are ability to follow direction – both oral and written; and to lift heavy objects continuously under varying weather conditions.  Pre-employment driver abstract, physical, drug screen and background checks are performed.  The City of Rahway is a CSC and EEO employer and gives preference to residents.

Tree Maintenance Worker 1 – Full-Time (37.5 hrs. wk.)

Public Works
$27.80 per hour

The City of Rahway, Department of Public Works is recruiting a Full-time Tree Maintenance Worker 1 which is included in the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, Local Union #469 bargaining unit.  Applicants need a minimum of one (1) year experience in in the care and maintenance of trees and shrubs, which shall have included the use and/or operation of manual or mechanical equipment used to climb trees along with other duties outlined in and not limited to the Civil Service Commission job description (https://info.csc.state.nj.us/jobspec/04220.htm).  Pesticide Applicator Certification issued by NJDEP is a plus.  Pre-employment driver abstract, physical, drug screen and background checks are performed.  The City of Rahway is a CSC and EEO employer and gives preference to residents.
